The Jauntee is a great band. This tape here pretty well displays how well-rounded and able-bodied they are at maneuvering through the various psycho-musical elements that make up the collective Jauntee gestalt.
Starting off with the Beatles cover, the band aptly weaves through their compositional backpack with the deft and nimble touch that an obese 9 year old displays when executing that tricky X-back-Y-X-down toggle-X-left-Y super move in the new release of Generic Modern Video Game Warfare for GameConsole720.
Put simply, this is a great show, filled with great playing. Time-wise, the jams aren't that deep, but they are chock full of substance and feeling. Being on home turf gives the band a looseness that works to their advantage, and it is evident that they were well-practiced. The big jams were to come later in the tour.
Highlights here include the manic "Flutterby" and the adventurous reading of "Puppy In My Pocket" which melts deliciously into the feel-good raver that is "I've Got A Feeling", a Jauntee original.
The whole show is great, though, as each song is filled with fun, energetic, and playful execution. There is a great flow, and the band shows that they can control their music with great command, finding the perfect fit for each song.
Rare is for a young band, full of party energy, to pull off a delicate ballad that actually commands the attention from the audience. "Slow Down" does just that, here. Pretty awesome, if you ask me.
Great melodies, energy, cohesion, playfulness, humor, and musical proficiency make this a great addition to the Jauntee's ever-growing cannon. Check it out!
